Episode Two: What Ever Happened to the Church of Marilyn Monroe?

We're going to start this party by smashing all of our instraments and
spitting out the 1975 Classic : "Tommy" (a Rock Opera by "The Who").
This is perhaps the Best film from Ken Russell who also Directed
Altered States (1980), Gothic (1986), and The Lair of the White Worm
(1988).

Tommy (Roger Daltrey) is scarred for life when his M.I.A. father
returns from War to find his wife with a "New Man". This New Husband
(Oliver Reed) kills Tommy's father in front of little Tommy.

Tommy's Mom (Ann-Margret in an Oscar Nominated Role) convinces Tommy
that: "You didn't hear it. You didn't see it. You never heard
it...not a word of it. You won't say nothing to no one. Never tell a
soul...What you know is the Truth".

I was nine years old and I had been told about this film by a Hippy
teacher. I had convinced my Mom to bring me to see it...BUT halfway
through the film The Acid Queen (Tina Turner) is recruited to "Fix"
Tommy's ailments with an "Iron Maiden" laden with Heroin. I So
Vividly remember my poor mother dragging me out of the theatre "In
Shock"!

The soundtrack is Fantastic, and there are some Great scenes with
Super Young Stars like Elton John, Eric Clapton, and the Who...But it
is "Ann-Margret" slipping around in 300 gallons of beans in sauce
while riding a Giant Pillow that makes it all worth your time.
